Approval of Products to World Standard

A CE marking is affixed only to those products that meet the safety requirements for the EC directive (the European Community of Ministers Directive). Products with the CE marking are designed to comply with the "Low Voltage Directive" and "EMC Directive" base on the EC Directive.

Low Voltage Directive: This directive is for products with a supply voltage of 50 to 1000 V (AC) and 75 to 1500 V (DC). Safety standards to prevent electric shock and burn, etc. are stipulated in this directive. The standard is EN61010 and it corresponds to IEC1010.

EMC Directive: This directive stipulates the prevention of strong electromagnetic waves from products and the sensitivity of products to electromagnetic waves from external source.
Safety standards IEC1010, Over voltage category
[Regarding the Safety Standards (IEC1010)]
IEC1010 is an international safety standards for measuring device and electrical equipment in order to protect operators and their surroundings.

[Over voltage category]
For the purpose of safe and appropriate use of measuring device, the IEC standards has safety levels for overvoltage categories I through IV depending ond the object measured.
The larger the number of the category, the higher the amount of transient electrical energy. Therefore, measuring object that belong to a higher category with measuring devices for lower categories is strictly prohibited as it may cause a serious accident.

The overview of each overvoltage category is as follows:
Overvoltage I : Secondary electric circuit within a device connected to the plug socket
through the power transformer, etc.
Overvoltage II : Primary electric circuit of an apparatus that has a power cord connected
to the plug socket
Overvoltage III : Primary electric circuit and lead from the tap to the plug socket of a device
where the power is applied directly from a distribution board
Overvoltage IV : Electric circuit between an incoming line and distribution board
